CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The NFL, along with the Carolina Panthers, the Minnesota Vikings, local officials and law enforcement, has been assessing security issues for Sunday's home game against the Vikings amid violent protests in the downtown area.
The league said on Thursday afternoon that it still plans to have the game played in Charlotte.

The protests began Tuesday night after a black Charlotte police officer shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott, who also is black, in an apartment complex parking lot about 15 minutes from Bank of America Stadium.
