History repeated in the men's triple jump final Tuesday at Rio 2016 as Christian Taylor beat fellow American Will Claye again to win the gold medal.
Taylor, the reigning champion from London four years ago, was unable to challenge Jonathan Edwards' long-held world-record distance of 18.29 meters, which he had come within eight centimeters of at last year's World Championships, but nevertheless earned his second Olympic title with a season's best performance.
"I wanted the world record but it wasn't to be," said the champion. "I'll keep pushing for it. It's been there so long."
