American Abbey D’Agostino, whose well-chronicled fall in the 5,000 meters prelims ended up being a feel-good story of the Rio Games, suffered a season-ending torn ACL, meniscus tear and strained MCL in her right knee that will prevent her from competing in the event's final, USA Track and Field said in a statement released Wednesday.
An MRI exam Tuesday revealed a complete tear of her ACL.

D'Agostino fell in Tuesday morning's race after tripping over a fallen Nikki Hamblin of New Zealand; the two helped each other after they tangled, and their embrace afterward became a highlight story this week in Rio.
