Sarah Robles won the first women's weightlifting medal for the United States in 16 years Sunday, and her absent Russian competitors are sure to take notice.
Robles took the bronze medal in the 75+kg division with a total of 286 kilograms, successfully making all six of her lifts in the snatch and clean and jerk. A final clean-and-jerk lift of 160 kg (352 pounds) put Robles in first place, but she had to wait out four more lifters.
Kim Kuk-hyang of North Korea topped her with a total of 306 kg but Meng Suping of China ended up taking gold at 307 kg in the final lift of the competition.
