Oregon wide receiver Devon Allen will race for an Olympic medal Tuesday night.
The 21-year-old from Phoenix advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, set for 9:45 p.m. ET Tuesday, based on his time in a semifinal heat earlier in the evening.
Allen missed out on an automatic qualifying spot after finishing third in his heat but his run of 13.36 seconds was enough to get him into the final. U.S. teammate Ronnie Ash also made the final but Jeff Porter missed out by four one-hundredths of a second.
Allen will need to go faster to get a medal, but he has proven capable.
