Devon Allen has some experience competing in the rain.
Inclement weather is a fact of life in Oregon, where Allen is a star receiver on the Ducks' football team when not chasing Olympic gold in the hurdles.
A downpour delayed Allen's first heat in the 110-meter hurdles for about 20 minutes Monday night, but Allen wasn't fazed. The 21-year-old placed second in his heat in 13.41 seconds, easily qualifying for Tuesday's semifinals with the seventh-fastest overall time.
Allen, who caught seven touchdown passes as a redshirt freshman in 2014 before tearing his ACL in the Rose Bowl, has been absent from preseason football camp to train for the Rio Games.
