Light flyweight Nico Hernandez set his sights on gold after securing the United States' first medal in men's boxing since 2008 on Wednesday.
The U.S. is the most successful nation in Olympic boxing, but went without a single men's medal in London. Its next gold in the ring will be the 50th and Hernandez hopes to be the man to deliver it after a unanimous decision over Ecuador's Carlos Eduardo Quipo Pilataxi guaranteed him at least a bronze.
"It feels good, knowing that we didn't get a medal (at the) last Olympics," he said. "That gave me and my team a lot of motivation.
