Americans who watched the men's 400 meters final Sunday night on NBC witnessed history as South African Wayde van Niekerk demolished Michael Johnson's world record in the event to win gold.
Those watching on BBC, however, were treated to a surreal moment: Johnson himself called the action live as a commentator, then immediately had to explain how his longstanding record fell.
