A weightlifter on Thursday became the first Olympian in Rio to be stripped of his medal.
Kyrgyzstan's Izzat Artykov's bronze medal in the 69-kilogram weightlifting event was taken away by the IOC after he tested positive for strychnine, Olympics Journalists' Association president Steve Wilson reported.

Instead, Colombia's Luis Javier Mosquera Lozano will secure bronze.
Artykov, who is 5-3, 150 pounds, lifted 339 kilograms in the event, which placed him behind China's Shi Zhiyong (gold) and Daniyar Ismayilov of Turkey (silver).
