Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross may have missed out on gold, but by some metrics their toughest test was yet to come.
The decorated Americans had their hands full against Brazilians Talita and Larissa, the world's top-ranked duo, to salvage bronze in Wednesday's beach volleyball consolation match. But after dropping a lopsided first set, Walsh Jennings and Ross rallied for redemption in a thrilling three-set win over the host nation.

As of Tuesday night, Walsh Jennings had yet to lose a match (26-0) in Olympic competition and, along with Ross, had only dropped one set in Brazil.
