The longer the swimming distance for Katie Ledecky, the more dominating her performance. But Ledecky's swim in Friday's night's 800-meter freestyle in Rio took it to another level.
In typical Ledecky fashion, the 19-year-old blew her competition out of the water, opening up a 2.59-second lead at the 200-meter mark and building on her lead every 100 meters until she touched the wall with a new world-record time of 8 minutes, 4.79 seconds. She broke her own mark of 8:06.68 set earlier this year.
