The world's fastest woman still hails from Jamaica after Elaine Thompson's dominant performance in the 100-meter final on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Thompson clocked in at 10.71 and ran away from a highly competitive field that for the first time ever yielded seven women who finished under 11 seconds.
Thompson's showing was so masterful that the race for second was the only thing in question with about 20 meters remaining. American Tori Bowie, one of only two Americans who qualified for the final, claimed silver with a a time of 10.
