Rio Olympics 2016: Gymnastics fan favorite Jade Barbosa of Brazil injured

The gymnastics all-around competition ended in heartbreak Thursday for Brazil's Jade Barbosa, who injured her ankle on the floor exercise and had to withdraw.

Barbosa, a 25-year-old who was born in Rio, was in tears as she hopped off the mat. The crowd chanted her name as she left the arena in a wheelchair.

Before her injury, Barbosa completed the balance beam with a score of 13.700.

Barbosa finished 10th in the all-around at the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a teenager but was not selected for the 2012 team because of a contract dispute with Brazil's federation.
