Battling through a torrential downpour early in the morning, Marcus Fraser and Thomas Pieters rose out of the pack Friday to take the lead after the second round of the men's Olympic golf championship in Rio.
The weather cleared up around lunchtime with blue skies dominating the rest of the round, and Pieters took advantage by firing a 5-under 66 to get to 9 under. The 24-year-old Belgian birdied his first three holes and his last three holes Friday. He finished his round with seven birdies and two bogeys.

"It's nice, for example, on 18 when you can try to hit something as hard as you can," Pieters said after his round.
