Islam El Shehaby's poor sportsmanship has, predictably, earned him a one-way ticket home from the Olympics.
You'll recall El Shehaby, an Egyptian judoka, refused to shake the hand of Israeli opponent Or Sasson after Sasson had defeated him Friday. The International Olympic Committee and the Egyptian Olympic Committee on Monday acknowledged El Shehaby's actions were unacceptable; the Egyptian committee then expelled him from Brazil, per the BBC.

The IOC and the Egyptian committee had no real alternative, other than perhaps pressing El Shehaby to do a photo op with Sasson to make it seem as if El Shehaby had had a change of heart.
