David Boudia and Steele Johnson gave the United States its best-ever Olympic finish in men's synchronized diving, taking a silver medal in the 10-meter platform Monday.
Boudia and Johnson placed second with a score of 457.11, well behind the powerful Chinese team of Chen Aisen and Lin Yue (496.98), who were heavily favored to take gold. Great Britain's Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow took bronze with a 444.45.
Synchro diving has been contested since the 2000 Sydney Games, and the U.S. men had never medaled before picking up a bronze in both the 10-meter platform and 3-meter springboard events in London.
