Fans of the Winter Olympics have become accustomed in recent years to a steady diet of action sports, with the halfpipe becoming as ubiquitous as the downhill run.
The Summer Games have been slower to add nontraditional sports, but that will change in Tokyo four years from now when skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing join the program. For now, BMX and mountain bike racing are about it, and with the men's and women's BMX finals to be contested Friday, cyclists who have acclimated to the Olympic world aren't sure how some of their more extreme brethren will fit in.
