Rio Olympics 2016: Ashton Eaton's decathlon defense off to strong start after Day 1

Only two men have ever repeated as Olympic decathlon champion, but Ashton Eaton is halfway to becoming the third.

The 28-year-old American superstar leads the field with 4,621 points after Day 1 of the competition in Rio. Kai Kazmirek of Germany is running second at 4,500 and Canada's Damian Warner is third at 4,489.
