We may be seeing the makings of an Olympic long jump dynasty for American women.
Tianna Bartoletta and Brittney Reese took gold and silver, respectively, in Wednesday night's final in Rio, giving the U.S. back-to-back Olympic long jump golds. Before 2012, the U.S. had only one: Jackie Joyner-Kersee's, in 1988.

Bartoletta built off her victory at last year's World Championships to displace her teammate Reese from the top of the podium with a leap of 7.17 meters (23 feet, 6 1/4 inches).
Reese, known as the Long Jump Beast, was attempting to become the first woman to successfully defend her Olympic long jump title, but had trouble finding a groove in the final.
