Allyson Felix's bid for gold in her first attempt at the 400 meters in the Olympics came up just short Monday night as Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas laid out to edge her at the finish line for gold.
Miller led most of the race but it appeared Felix was set to pass her on the home stretch. Miller, though, found one last reserve of energy and fell toward to the finish line, her torso crossing just ahead of the upright Felix in 49.44 seconds. Felix clocked in at 49.51 for silver and Shericka Jackson of Jamaica took bronze in 49.
