There’s now an explanation for why French soccer club Lyon demoted veteran fullback Marcelo to its reserve team earlier this season. And it’s a gas.
According to multiple reports, the 34-year-old Brazilian was dropped from the first team because of repeated instances of farting in the dressing room. Per ESPN, Marcelo was laughing during a speech captain Leo Dubois made following an early season loss. And he was accused of "continuous farting" in front of the team’s manager and sporting director.
However, according to ESPN sources, Marcelo was also disciplined by the club for repeatedly farting among his teammates in the dressing room and laughing in the presence of [sporting director] Juninho and [manager] Peter Bosz.
