Report: Police arrest 10 suspected of planning terrorist acts during Rio Olympics

Police have arrested 10 suspects in connection with a plan to commit terrorist acts during the 2016 Rio Olympics, according to Brazilian publication O Globo.

Brazil's Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes announced the arrests on Thursday which were made in the states of Parana and Sao Paulo, just south of Rio de Janeiro, and said two more are being sought. These are the first arrests made under Brazil's new anti-terror law.

During his announcement, Moraes also added that the group had been in contact with ISIS through the internet.

Moraes says police acted because the group had been discussing the use of weapons and guerrilla tactics to potentially launch an attack during the Olympics, which begin Aug.
