DETROIT -- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was downgraded to questionable because of an illness Saturday night, is active and will start Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
Peterson became sick on Saturday evening, but people close to him figured it would take much more than an illness to keep him off the field.
The running back's tenacity has never been in much doubt. He played the second half of his MVP season in 2012 with a sports hernia and lobbied to get back on the field in December 2013, a week after sustaining a mid-foot sprain that typically would keep players out for several weeks.
