People close to former Oakland Raiders pass-rusher Aldon Smith are reportedly concerned for his safety amid his decision to check into alcohol rehab.
According to TMZ Sports, one source said, "I'm worried for him. I'm worried for his safety. He's an alcoholic. It's not about football anymore. We're hoping this is rock bottom for him."
TMZ Sports reported Monday that Smith had entered rehab.
That came on the same day the Raiders released Smith after playing just nine regular-season games with the team.
