Remembering June 9, 1999 (Or, Happy Bobby Valentine Disguise Day!)

Related Topics: Bobby Valentine, June 9

We pause today, as we do every June 9, to remember a classic episode of baseball shenanigans.

Yes, it was 17 years ago today — way back in the 20th century — that Mets manager Bobby Valentine donned a silly and unconvincing disguise so he could return to the dugout after being ejected for arguing a weird catcher’s interference call.

Valentine got the heave-ho from home plate umpire Randy Marsh in the 12th inning of a game against the Blue Jays, only to return a few minutes later with glasses and a fake mustache. Have a look.
