In 1982, the Brazil national team played in the city of Natal for the first time. The Selecao were preparing for the World Cup later that year, with a fearsome West Germany side awaiting on the other side of the pitch.
The game took place at the Estadio Presidente Castelo Branco, the current site of the modern Arena das Dunas, and was watched by almost 50,000 Brazilian fans.
Germany took the lead through Doerner 34 minutes in, but Paulo Isodoro struck just five minutes later to level proceedings. Renato then added Brazil's second early in the second period, before Serginho Chulapa added a third to put the game out of the Europeans' reach.
