Dennis Rodman: human rights diplomat? Sort of.
According to Korean-born U.S. citizen Kenneth Bae, his release from more than two years in captivity was in large part the result of an unfortunate comment from Rodman and a follow-up apology.

"I want to thank Dennis Rodman for being a catalyst for my release,” Kenneth Bae told CNN. “It all together worked out for good for my release … (so) I’m grateful.”
According to CNN, Bae was incarcerated for "hostile acts" committed in North Korea and given a 15-year sentence.
