Redskins superfan Zema Williams has died, the team announced Tuesday. He was 75.
The cause of death was not given.
Williams became known as Chief Zee, the Redskins' unofficial mascot, during his more than three decades of supporting the team. He wore a Native American headdress, which made him a familiar sight at both RFK Stadium and FedEx Field. In later years, he rode around the field on a motorized scooter Redskins owner Dan Snyder gave him.
"The Washington Redskins will always appreciate Zema Williams' unique passion and dedication to our football team and his fellow Washington Redskins' fans," the team said in a statement.
