While the Washington Redskins still have more than a decade left on their current stadium lease, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has already started a public campaign to land the franchise's next stadium in the Old Dominion.
According to Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post, McAuliffe revealed Friday in an ESPN 980 interview that the state of Virginia is making a push to become the new home of the Redskins:
I view this as a Virginia team. I know they're in Maryland right now. But a majority of the season ticket holders are Virginians, all the players live in Virginia, we have all of your [practice] facilities.
