This has been a rough season for Cincinnati Reds fans.
Their team isn’t very good right now. They knew that heading into the season, of course, but that doesn’t make the mediocrity (46-66 entering play Wednesday) any more palatable. It’s not fun to watch one franchise icon (Jay Bruce) get traded away while watching another couple more franchise icons (Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips) toil away for a club that’s far from contending.
But that’s not what we’re going to talk about today.
We’re going to talk about Billy Hamilton, the speedster who might finally be figuring out how to harness his immense talent and become a big-time impact player in the big leagues.
