Reds play-by-play announcer Thom Brennaman appeared to utter a homophobic slur during Wednesday's Reds doubleheader vs. the Royals.
In a clip that circulated on social media, Brennaman appears to say “One of the [homophobic slur] capitals of the world" prior to previewing the second game in Wednesday's doubleheader. Brennaman remained on air for the second game.
The full context of the audio is unclear and it is also unclear if Brennaman was aware that his microphone was on.
Three weeks ago, Brennaman mistakenly reported on a broadcast that former MLB All-Star outfielder Jack Clark had died.
