The Boston Red Sox placed pitcher Steven Wright on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury, the team announced.
That move is retroactive to Aug. 8, meaning Wright is eligible to pitch on Aug. 23 against the Tampa Bay Rays. Wright injured his right shoulder when he dove back into second base on Aug. 7.
"It's just not progressing the way I thought it was going to. It just hurts," Wright said. "I don't want to go out there and throw with too much pain, because I don't want to start compensating.
