After Monday's 6-4 win over the Phillies, the Cubs (40-16) are the fastest team to 40 wins since the Mariners in 2001.

Jon Lester helped his own cause by striking out nine over eight scoreless innings and adding a double in the victory. After his double, Lester scored on Jason Heyward's 100th career home run.
