Real Salt Lake has given a new contract to head coach Jeff Cassar, the team announced Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Howard: It's politics and this is football
The former MLS keeper has been at the helm of Salt Lake for three seasons, taking over for Jason Kreis following the 2013 campaign. During that time, Cassar has overseen two playoff appearances sandwiched between one postseason miss.
He also prompted a tactical shift away from a diamond formation to a 4-3-3 over the past two seasons, culminating in the 2016 postseason appearance.
