John Stertzer and Alvaro Saborio scored and Real Salt Lake beat visiting New York City F.C., 2-0, on Saturday to extend the expansion team’s winless streak to 10 games.
Real Salt Lake (4-3-5) spoiled the homecoming of N.Y.C.F.C. Coach Jason Kreis, who led Real Salt Lake from 2007-13.
Stertzer scored his first M.L.S. goal in the 25th minute after Devon Sandoval’s glancing header was misplayed by the defense. Stertzer was first to the ball and he sent in a well-angled shot.
It was the eighth goal N.Y.C. (1-7-4) has allowed in the first 30 minutes of a match.
