Real Colin Kaepernick hate test begins when 49ers QB hits open market

Colin Kapernick can become a free agent this offseason. Which means that the NFL’s owners, executives and coaches have a chance to put their Rae Carruth comparisons where their mouths are.

To be fair, those would be their anonymous Rae Carruth comparisons, like the one made in an eye-opening Bleacher Report story on the eve of the season, when the topic of Kaepernick’s pre-game protests went viral. Several front-office types strongly denounced him and his actions, but the money shot was the one that said Carruth, the former wide receiver still serving a murder sentence, was the last player as widely-hated by executives as Kaepernick.
