The Tampa Bay Rays fan who was struck near her right eye by a foul ball at Friday night’s game against the White Sox remained at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg on Saturday and is listed in stable condition, according to an ESPN.com report.
The ball came off the bat of Rays designated hitter Steven Souza Jr. and sailed through a gap in the protective netting before striking the woman. The incident happened in the seventh inning and delayed the game for about 12 minutes. Souza went into the stands to check on the fan, who was taken away on a stretcher, and said after the game that he wanted to visit her.
