The Rangers have signed Carlos Gomez to a minor league contract with the veteran outfielder expected to report to the team’s Triple A affiliate in Round Rock, Texas.
Gomez had spent the season with the Astros before being released this week after hitting just .210 with five home runs in 295 at-bats.
The 30-year-old struggled since arriving in Houston via trade from Milwaukee as part of deal at 2015 deadline. The outfielder had made the All-Star team in 2013 and 2014, hitting .284 with over 20 home runs both seasons, but failed to replicate those numbers for the Astros.
