NASCAR's weather luck took a turn for the worse on Friday, as rain threatened to cancel qualifying at Richmond.
Given a forecast for possible thunderstorms, it seemed there would be little chance of getting speed competition done. If there's a rainout, Sunday's starting lineup would be set by times from Friday's abbreviated practice.

And that would put Kevin Harvick on the pole.
Teams took the track with setups geared to qualifying for the morning practice, taking no chances with a rotten forecast.
