Rain delays start of Texas Sprint Cup Chase race; long day after short storm

D'oh! No matter the early outlook, NASCAR can't escape rain.

A shower was possible early at Texas Motor Speedway, and radar showed more rain coming — soon after the scheduled start of Sunday's Sprint Cup race. In response, NASCAR moved up the race's start time to 2:10 p.m. ET.

Rain brings another problem at Texas. Weepers, those small places were water seeps through cracks on the racing surface. They can be worse than a wet track. How bad the weepers are depends on how much moisture is underneath the asphalt.

Midweek forecasts had the weekend dry and cool, which would have made for terrific racing in the second competition in the Chase for the Sprint Cup's Round of 8.
