Weather worries returned Sunday as NASCAR prepared for its Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Morning rain washed the track where the New Hampshire 301 was scheduled to begin about 1:30 p.m. ET. NASCAR officials announced there will be a competition caution after 35 laps.
Worse, forecasters said rain could return during the race. That promised a lengthy delay.
New Hampshire's one-mile track is relatively flat, and drivers spent practice time learning to avoid slides in the turns. Restarts could be problematic and lead to crashes.
It won't be easy to pass, so Sunday could bring few lead changes or action behind the front of the field.
