Rain at Pocono likely means delay for Sprint Cup race

As rain fell on Pocono Raceway, Sunday's biggest question was simple: Will NASCAR be able to race?

With showers forecast at rain time, a delay seemed inevitable. However, there was good news for what promised to be a day of action.

Showers should end and stay away long enough to get the Pennsylvania 400 completed. However, going green at 1:48 p.m. ET as scheduled seemed unlikely.

Drying the track will take time. No matter how good the machines, getting water off a 2.5-mile asphalt surface isn't quick. Still, unless nature takes an unexpected turn — which is always possible — there should be time to get the full race run.
