Raiders release Pro Bowler Marcel Reece after PED violation

The Raiders released Pro Bowl fullback Marcel Reece on Monday, six days before he was eligible to return from suspension.

Reece was suspended the last game of the 2015 regular season, the Pro Bowl and the first three weeks of this season after violating the performance-enhancing drug policy.

A Pro Bowl selection at fullback in each of the past four seasons, Reece, 31, caught 30 passes and three touchdowns in 2015. The University of Washington product has averaged 4.6 yards per carry and 9.8 yards per reception in his eight-year career.

"I want to thank Marcel as a player and as a person for all that he has given to the Oakland Raiders,” Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said in a statement.
