Rafael Nadal will miss Wimbledon because of the wrist injury that forced him to retire from the French Open, he announced Thursday.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion looked in form at Roland Garros, where he is a nine-time champion, easing past Sam Groth and Facundo Bagnis in straight sets to reach the third round.

Nadal, 30, was unable to go any further in the clay-court major, though, withdrawing ahead of a scheduled third-round encounter against Marcel Gronellers after the pain in his left wrist became too much to bear.
