After 25 regular-season races, only three open spots remain entering the final non-Chase race of the season Saturday at Richmond International Raceway.
If any winless driver wants to make the Chase this season without worrying about race position Saturday night, then they only need to take the checkered flag in the Federated Auto Parts 400.
It sounds simple, but a win by those drivers who have not won this season guarantees a spot in the Chase (as long as they are in the top 30 in points).
As of now, 11 drivers are qualified for NASCAR's version of the playoffs with victories, presuming they start at Richmond: Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Joey Logano, Martin Truex Jr.
