Texas junior outfielder Max Belyeu is officially listed as "week-to-week" with a thumb injury that will require surgery, according to the Longhorns baseball team release.
Belyeu, a projected top prospect in the upcoming MLB Draft, suffered the injury during Friday night’s series opener against Missouri. The Longhorns remain hopeful he can return in time for the NCAA Tournament, if not sooner.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound right fielder was in the midst of a breakout season prior to the injury. In 24 games, Belyeu slashed .358/.465/.642 with six home runs, seven doubles, a triple, 22 RBIs, 24 strikeouts and 16 walks — all career-best paces for the left-handed hitter.
