Questions Begin at Third Draft Slot as Top Prospects Perform at Combine

BUFFALO — They were pushed, prodded, measured, weighed and otherwise subjected to a kind of scrutiny familiar to anyone who has inspected produce before buying.

But in this case, the commodities were teenagers, the top draft-eligible hockey prospects in the world, who last week were examined and tested — physically and mentally — at the 2015 N.H.L. scouting combine here at HarborCenter, part of a two-rink hockey complex completed in 2014 by the host Sabres.

For the first time in its history, the combine moved from the Toronto area, where it had been held the last several years in a crowded ballroom in Mississauga, Ontario.
