Professional boxers could compete in Rio Olympics, governing body says

Boxing retirements are notoriously tenuous, and speculation about Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting again surfaced even before his farewell fight against Andre Berto last September.

But the sport's international governing body might just have given Mayweather the incentive he needs to return to the ring: another shot at Olympic gold.

AIBA president Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu told the Press Association on Wednesday that all professional boxers will now be eligible to compete in the Olympics — beginning with this summer's Rio Games.
