Professional skateboarder Dylan Rieder has died at 28 of complications from leukemia, Transworld Skateboarding announced on Thursday.
Rieder began skateboarding at age 9 and turned pro at 18, becoming renowned in the skateboarding community. He won the 2001 Damn Am contest at age 13 and went on to star in various skateboarding videos, winning Transworld Skateboarding's award last year for Best Part in Supreme's "Cherry."
He also worked as a model, being featured in a DKNY ad campaign with Cara Delevingne 2014.
"It’s hard to believe even typing this—we lost one of the best to ever step on a skateboard today.
