On Saturday night, 2012 U.S. Olympian and 2015 boxing prospect of the year Errol Spence Jr. takes on former welterweight titleholder Chris Algieri in the 10-round main event of Premier Boxing Champions on NBC.
Spence (19-0, 16 KOs), is 26 years old and is fighting for the first time in 2016 after four fights last year. In his most recent outing, Spence defeated Alejandro Barrera by fifth-round TKO. Algieri, 32, (21-2, 8 KOs) has lost two of his past three fights. But those were to no slouches in Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao. The New York native last fought in December, putting in a good showing in defeating Erick Bone by unanimous decision.
